On November 17th, International Students' Day, events will take place at universities across the world to demonstrate solidarity with Iranian students, academics and scholars. We will honor their bravery and struggles for basic human and civil rights.

For more than seventy years, Iranian students and academics have been one of the leading defenders of basic freedoms and rights. For this, they have paid dearly, with imprisonment, torture, rape and their lives.

Following the June 12th elections and the brutal crackdown on peaceful protestors during last summer, students and scholars, along with others including the members of women’s movement, once again led the struggle.

Global solidarity continues to pressure the government of Iran and other governments in their relations with the government of Iran, in order to hold accountable those who have jailed, raped, tortured, and murdered the Iranians demanding their civil and human rights.

And although the mainstream media has failed to cover the ongoing struggle, it continues to exist in Iran.

Since the universities have opened in late September, Iranian students have again assumed a brave and active voice. Chants in dormitories and outcries in lecture halls, and on campuses throughout the country, occur regularly. One brave honor student voiced his grave concerns about the Supreme Leader while being broadcast nationally.

These brave women and men are risking their lives and future. Leave a message, and let’s support these courageous students and academics in every way we can.

I continue to be inspired by the strength, courage and determination of the young people of Iran. I have been following your efforts online since the "election" and want you to know that all free people in the world support you in your fight to be free. Continue to have strong hearts and keep your goal always in front of you.

As a history student, naturally canadian, american and european (the western world) are highly emphasised in our curriculum here in north america. Personally I dont know much about my birthplace nor all too much about the rich history that spans over 3000 years. However it is clear as day that this last year and the times to come are an absolute milestone in the History of Iran, the middle east and the democratic free states of the entire world. Human rights will improve with time and these efforts are not in vein. I am proud of you, the world is proud of you NOT FOR POLITICS, NOT FOR RELIGION but for BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS, WHICH EVERYONE DESERVES . We are with you and we care about what is happening, dont be afraid of anyone trying to hurt you for speaking your voice, they are the real cowards.

May the world unit in support for the freedom of the Iranian people. Our wish is the light of truth to continue to expose the lies and insanity of the current regime in Iran. Darkness must yield to light.

My dear friends, This message is easy to write. Much more easy than risking my life and my futur for my ideas. I do not nead the courage you have in this particular moment and that I admire above all. I have always had the chance to choose my life, to do what ever I wanted, without any form of restriction. But I do not feel free. As long as there will be countries and communities through out the world who will not be able to express themselves and to live their life the way they intend to live it, I will not feel entirely free. I do hope you will succeed ant that one day you will be sharing your culture, your history with the rest of the world.

ایران، ایران است b a b a |<

Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité ! Freedom, Equality, Fraternity ! This slogan from the french revolution is not just a slogan, it is still very important to remember. And you, the students of Iran, remind us all that we should not take our freedom for granted. You're fighting for your rights, I admire your strength & creativity. I know that is not easy. Take care of each other, stay together, stay united - I am far away, but I'm with you as much as I can from my heart.
